Sausage Bread

I found this recipe many years ago in a church cookbook, and it has made its way onto my family’s Holiday List of Expected Food Items. A single recipe makes two loaves of heaven. It’s yummy and carby and so great on a cold morning. Or any kind of morning. Or afternoon. Whenever.

Ingredients:

1 box Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix

2 lbs sausage

2 beaten eggs

1 tablespoon parsley flakes

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

1 onion

1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Prepare roll mix dough as directed on package, but don’t bake and let it rise for 45 minutes. Brown and drain sausage, let cool. Add eggs, parsley, Parmesan cheese, onion, Swiss cheese, salt. Cook the mixture on low until the cheese melts. Divide the dough into two parts and roll out. Spread sausage mixture onto each half and roll up jelly roll fashion and put into two greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until golden.
